Friends, join us this Sunday, September 1, 2019, 9:30 AM for worship. We'll continue in our journey through Jesus' Miracles from Luke's Gospel. In this passage, Luke 8:22-25, the Lord and His disciples will be sailing across the Lake and confronted with a storm. This storm will both test the disciples' faith and prove the Lord's power -- we have similar challenges in our lives -- why do we doubt? Sunday is also Communion Sunday; let's break bread and share the cup remembering what our Lord did for us, our great community, and reminding each other we will see the Master soon. Join us for coffee right after church. <3

RE: Camping Overnight, Friday 8/23 -- Saturday 8/24. Dear friends, if you’re camping with us, or just hanging around and not sleeping overnight, here’s some information: You can set up and come earlier, but we're going to have devotions and eat supper at 6 PM. We're grilling dogs & burgers, if able, bring a side-dish or treat. We’ll have coffee and breakfast in the morning on Saturday, but we’re going to have everything packed up and cleaned up by noon. Feel free to hang around the camp after noon, but we want to get tables, chairs, food-stuff, and garbage back to the church. If you're planning on staying the afternoon, make sure you bring lunch stuff and cleanup after yourselves. The Boyer’s address is 9 Skunk Hill Road in Hope Valley; easy to find. Let’s all try and keep a path open for people to unload then move their car. I’m bringing a few bags of peanuts to leave on the tables for people to munch on, and a watermelon, but if you want to bring anything like that to share, great. Some people REALLY like Twix & KittKatts too. If you play an instrument, bring it. We can always use board games, cards, lawn games, your fishing gear, hiking boots, sweet ninja swords, nice lanterns for light. Bug spray. We rent a port-a-potty. This is not just for church members but for everyone – come on down. Not everyone tents; lots of folks just come by Friday evening and/or Saturday AM. Hope to see everyone there. If you want to serve in any way, Gayle, Susan, and Mickey usually have a good handle on stuff, but message Pastor Chip if you have any specific questions or cool ideas. See you tomorrow! 😎

This year's them for Kids' Sunday School if "Loving God & Each Other". They asked Jesus what the greatest commandment was; He pointed up to loving God and similarly pointed outward to loving others (Matthew 22:36-40). Our faith manifests upward & outward; vertical & horizontal. Once you see it in the Bible, you can't unsee it.

We're camping overnight Friday -- Saturday at the Boyer's House this weekend (August 23rd & 24th). People sometimes come early that day, stake their plot of real estate, and set up their tent -- there's plenty of room, but you can come later too. Once you unload, especially for the younger people, try and park your car further so our retirees can get the closer spots and people can unload their stuff. We rent a port-a-potty available (we're a class act!). We gather for devotions. We usually sing a song or 2, read something from the Bible, and eat together. We're grilling burgers & dogs. Folks are bringing a side-dish to share; if you can't bring anything, there's always plenty. After the meal it's all up to you. Just sit and chill. Bring your favorite board game or yard game. Go fish. We sing around the fire. Go read in the tent. Swim if it's still light out. Catch some fish bait for Saturday. Facebook on your phone, if that's your bag. This is a relaxing time for all of us -- very little agenda. We have s'mores for the evening -- people bring munchies for the night. In the morning we'll have Dunkin Donut's coffee -- Jugs-of-Joe. A hearty breakfast too. We have a Civil War reenactment guy who helps cook by the fire. The morning is yours. Some hike, swim, fish, and do just about anything you would do while camping. Toward the afternoon we try to cleanup, leaving out host's the Boyer's yard better than we found it. Some people don't spend the night but come for the evening and day. Let us know so we can get extra refreshments. We'll post a quick vid on things to bring, but we have some ole pros who know what how to camp. See you all Friday. <3
Oh, it's on! Yes, it's ON!!! This Friday, overnight, August 23rd at the Boyer's. Back by popular demand: BACKYARD CAMPING, 2019! We'll say the blessing for the food around 6 PM; have some worship; light a whopping fire for s'mores & conversation; they'll be swimming, kayaking, lawn games, hikes available, tenting if you're staying overnight, breakfast, and more fun. This is for all ages, multi-generational! We'll have a little bucket to help offset costs, but otherwise, just come and bring stuff to camp (we'll post a list of things to remember). The Lyrics are easy: Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya, Oh Lord, kumbaya ... you'll catch on!
You should have seen the roofers putting on the roof. It was like a dance -- scraping of the old, putting on the new with great synchronization, all in one day. Special thanks to our trustees too! Yesterday we the staff took turns hunting for nails, First Baptist & Wood River Preschool. Deb McBride gets the gold star -- she found the most -- but she found them all where the last truck was. Bob Kreyssig was like a mine-sweeper, scanning the whole lot with his nail-sniffing dog. But John Hughes gets the eagle-eye award. He got the last of them. Stop by the church office or the preschool and say hi -- we're open for faith and education! <3

A poor widow is carrying her only son out of the city to be buried. Everyone stops as Jesus and death collide. What happens when Eternal Joy confronts despair? Our pianist Tonya in the ProJo back in August 2005. She has her son Drew at 18-months on her back. She's leading singing at Camp Canonicus when she was Music Director at Chestnut Hill Baptist. Now Drew could carry her on his shoulders AND score a touchdown! Cool pic!

Family Fun Night, July 23, 2019. We looked at Jesus's teaching at the end of the Sermon on the Mount where He says, "“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25). The kids were brokenup into 3 teams and had to break down the other teams' sand castles using squirt guns. They didn't know it but one had a rock under the foundation -- for being good sports, they all got rock candy from Hack & Livery. The Lord said to hear His words and put them into practice -- may we all be both hearers and doers of the Word.
Such a beautiful Flag Day. Freedom comes in so many shapes & colors. Join us Sunday. Let’s worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. ❤️

Love these guys. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The 1st Sunday of Advent is this Sunday! Thank you all who were able to spruce up the church a little. We're meeting again tomorrow, Tues, Nov. 27th, 9:30 AM to do some more -- all welcome. <3
